Restylane injections take place in the office at DeRosa Clinic Plastic Surgery. If requested, we may place numbing cream on the treatment areas for enhanced comfort. The treatment is injected in your skin through a fine-gauge needle and gently massaged so it fills the selected areas. We may perform several injections, then use a cold compress to reduce swelling. Every Restylane product is administered the same way but on different areas of the face and is chosen based on your unique needs and goals.
What to Expect
When your Restylane procedure is complete, you can return to work. Your recovery period will depend on which area the doctor treats so talk to our team about what to expect. The injection areas may appear slightly red and swollen, but this often fades away in a few hours. Additionally, patients may have some bruising, but you can usually camouflage it with makeup. We recommend that you avoid strenuous activities, like exercise for 1 – 2 days, and you should sleep upright for the first night. Many patients will see visible improvements right after the injections, but it may take 1 – 2 weeks until the final results appear. Generally, Restylane treatments last up to a year based on the exact product used.
